Documentation is a must and good at every stage

The thinking process matters more than the design process we follow and to show the same, documentation is the key.

While presenting iterations to the senior designers or while showing the insights we get from research, writing the intent behind our sayings and thoughts always helps. It helps to rectify and clarify our own thoughts and ideas. At the same time, the person on the other side of the table also gets to know about our thinking process.

Documentation can be of any type (either written or vocal), can be done on any medium (written on paper, digital docs, cellular notes, etc) using any tool. But it should be in a position to be shown to others in the team and the team could access that with proper understanding.

See, I am documenting what I learned in this internship phase!

Why?

Because Documentation is a MUST! 😁

Ask everything, anything

I know you must have heard this earlier infinite times, so adding one more to that infinity. Pardon!

Hope this one could make a change with infinity, unlike mathematics.

We don’t know anything if we feel that we know everything. Asking, exploring, and researching helps.

Sometimes, the experience that an individual(either a senior or mentor or anybody else) beholds speaks up more than Google. Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, and other platforms can’t depict every minor “intricate” detail but personal experience.

So, even after elaborated explorations and research at a personal level, there is still an existing room you don’t know about. Asking lights that room up!

Need some more time, ask for it.

Need a short break, ask.

Have a silliest of silly doubts, ask.

Ask!

It refines understanding for both the people at different sides of the table and thus helps in refining the work and performance.🤙🏻

Reach out to the team members in case you need to

Don’t think so much before reaching out to them for any purpose, just see the timings XD.😌

We always think, what would they think if I would do this, ask this or whatever and then start assuming. Believe me, they don’t even think so much, rather they don’t have the time to do so.

Just be patient while reaching to them, don’t make the other person feel uncomfortable or frustrated. If you do, this kinda reaching out can be a risk for your career further.

Narrate stories, build Relationships

A good work culture, team spirit requires healthy relationships. A little Gupshup, chit chat (obv not work-related) is necessary and must to create connections at a personal level.

Personal relationships make professional relationships even stronger.

These are my personal experiences during my 2 months of a summer internship at Airtel. I made a lot of mistakes, learned a lot, and tried to document the learnings that can be applied globally in anything we do. We face hurdles initially in any task or thing, everyone does but you know as everyone says. All’s well that ends well.

All we have to do is gain experiences to create better experiences.😇
